The Wild co-op team's season ended with a 6-2 first-round loss to host and fifth-seeded Janesville on Feb. 16.
Janesville took a 4-0 lead into the third period before the No. 12 Wild got back into the game with two goals. The first was a shorthanded tally by Stephen Dahl, assisted by Ryan Regeth. The Wild scored again three minutes later on a goal by Dahl, assisted by Alex Sommerfeld.
Janesville tacked on two more goals for the final margin and outshot the Wild, 59-14. The Wild ended the season 0-20.
"I have to give our players a lot of credit for staying with it," Wild coach Pete Koszarek said. "Not too many teams in the state work as hard as we do when they are down. We were not blessed with a deep bench, we have 10 skaters and one goaltender and are typically facing teams that have four full lines and two goalies. Our season started off really slow, but at the end we were staying with teams ranked very high in the standings."
"Our goaltender deserves a lot of credit too," Koszarek said of senior Matt Ranta. "He has taken more shots this season then some goalies get in their entire high school careers. He has been an amazing asset to our team, and he will be missed."
