Spartans' playoff game Saturday at Hart Park

Aug. 25, 2009 | 0 comments

The Wauwatosa Spartans (9-2 overall, 8-2 in league play) of the Ironman Football League will host the Burlington Blue Devils (8-3) in the American Conference Championship Game at Hart Park at 6 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to Iron Bowl XIII.

The Spartans got to the title game by beating the Rock County Gladiators, 28-27, Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Raabe Field.

Wauwatosa cornerback Scott Lang intercepted the Gladiators' potential game-winning two-point conversion pass to seal the victory with less than 30 seconds left to play.

Quarterback Tony Henner tossed three touchdowns to Greg Rebella (two), and Raymon Porchia and Cedric McFadden rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown to lead the attack.

Leading 28-13, the Spartans saw the Gladiators rally to within one point before Lang's big play.
