The Wauwatosa West spikers, led by the talented Jenny Ciriacks, will be looking to defend their Woodland Conference championship this season, and the team has six returning letter winners to lead the way.
The Trojans compiled a 9-0 record to win the conference crown and were led by Ciriacks, the conference Player of the Year, a first-team all-conference selection and third-team all-state pick.
Tosa West also beat Tosa East for the regional championship, but lost to Divine Savior Holy Angels in the sectional semifinal.
"We should challenge for the conference championship again," coach Kelly Dwyer said. "We are a young team with only three seniors. Our defense is going to be our strength. We lost some important players last year, but I think we have the talent to be better than we were a year ago."
Returning letter winners are Ciriacks, Lizzie Bradley, Danielle Klauck, Jenna Lahmann, Anna Radske and Alexis Hafemeister.
Key newcomers to look out for are freshman Elise Ditscheit, sophomores Andrea Hafemeister and Jillian Ditscheit, and junior Elle MacGillis.
Other varsity members are sophomore Kailey Ihrke and freshman Marena Leisten.
